My Story

Darby is one of the sweetest bassets you may ever find!  She is 6-7 years old tri-color.  Her paws are mostly white, with a few brown freckles.  One of Darby's favorite hobbies is bug catching.  You will fall in love with her excitement to the sport!  Her ears perk up when she's hunting bugs, she's just precious!  There's no doubt she will quietly follow you from room to room as she just wants to be with you.  Darby enjoys a soft spot to lay for her belly rub.  If your heart allows, I am certain she would prefer to cuddle right up with you on the couch or bed.  Just after her spay, she's also enjoyed sunggling under a blanket, too.  After a couple of days with Darby, either she's incredibly smart, or she has been housetrained.  She will go outside, do her stuff and want to be right back with you.  Currently Darby is in a household with other dogs.  She does not seem to care if they are there or not.  There are no children in our house, our nephew is 2.5 years old, and she did fine with him.  If children are gentle, I'm sure she wouldn't mind belly rubs from them, too!

 

Darby has tested very light positive for heartworms. We have chosen to put her on heartgard for a year and then retest her. She can still be adopted now. This does not slow her down or diable her in any way. If, at the end of a year, she does not test negative, we will pay for the full heartworm treatment, if the adopter would like for us to do that.
